About Us
Centre for Business and Commercial Laws
The Centre for Business and Commercial Laws (“CBCL”) was established as a “Centre for Excellence” in 2008 at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal (“NLIU”). Driven by its primary purpose to cultivate a culture of commercial keenness within the student community, CBCL has striven to generate awareness and facilitate scholarship in the field of corporate and business laws.
The CBCL logo symbolizes the gold coinage from the Gupta Dynasty and features a king mid-hunt, bow in hand, having just released the bowstring to slay a lion. During the Gupta era, monarchs issued numerous gold coins, reflecting a thriving economy with the dynasty’s reign therefore, often being referred to as the ‘rain of gold.’ It is in line with this mission of achieving excellence in the field that the Centre constantly initiates discussions on and promotes the understanding of business laws through its numerous initiatives over the years which, in turn, aids the student community in refining their understanding of commercial laws.
Activities:
The Centre for Business & Commercial Laws is actively involved in the dissemination of information and critical analysis in the field of corporate laws. Aligned with its primary mission to instil a culture of commercial acumen within the student community, CBCL has striven to foster a robust foundation in the field. This has been inculcated through certificate courses in collaboration with leading law firms in the country which aim at providing students with practical experience and a conceptual understanding of different topics under the umbrella of commercial laws. Similarly, the publication endeavours of the Centre deal with a wide range of topics within the area of business laws through our Blog, Journal and the Corporate Brief, our monthly newsletter.
